The MAPS CUP brings the
excitement of classic cup
play to top-performing
MAPS and elite regional teams!
Like the FIFA World Cup,
group play and knockout rounds are part of the
excitement.
Like the US Open Cup and
English FA Cup, qualifying teams from a lower
competitive bracket can still get their opportunity to
test the top dogs.
Like the Copa America (where
the US and Mexico were both recently invited as guests
to compete for South America's prestigious
championship), brackets will be fleshed out by top
regional guest teams to ensure top competitive play.
And like the Stanley Cup
(acknowledging that a hockey cup can also provide a good
idea), this webpage will not only list winning teams but
a full roster of players that participated on those
teams!
The MAPS CUP is an
invitation-only event!
Twelve top MAPS Flights
teams in each age group will be invited to participate
each year, rewarding achievement and sustained
excellence through the date that invitations are issued.
Should an invited team
decline its slot, brackets will be filled by top
regional teams and the next reserve level of MAPS Flight
teams.
MAPS CUP winners will be
specially honored!
MAPS Cup will have its own
dedicated awards and medals, website listings of all
current and past champions, and results forwarded to
major ranking services.
MAPS CUP is a great
weekend of elite soccer!
In 2008, MAPS Cup for U15 -
U18 will be held in conjunction with Rider Cup 2008, and
for U11 - U14 in conjunction with the MAPS / MSSL
2008 Fall Challenge. |
