2009 SUMMER SEASON U17-U20 & U23 MENS & WOMENS TEAMS

U17 through U20 teams find this an excellent summer of preparation for College Showcases or cracking that College Varsity starting line-up. MSSL's structure is geared to the transition player, --- players leaving their developmental youth club, playing in college programs, preparing to enter the ranks of adult and pro leagues. MSSL will provide a realistic schedule of games, at reasonable cost, while maintaining an excellent competitive level. Opening League Date: Sunday May 31 Final League Date: Sunday July 26 Number of Regular Season Games: Typically 10-15 Games will be primarily scheduled for Sunday afternoons on May 31, June 7, 14, 21 & 28; July 5, 12, 19 & 26.
Teams are anticipated to play two seventy-minute games most Sundays, with an occasional ninety minute single game. Men's teams typically participate on 6-7 of the listed dates, Women's teams about 5-6, although teams can have games scheduled every weekend.
Fields: MSSL will strive to create two to five separate geographically-dispersed game sites most weekends, where 4 to 12 teams may participate.

League structure: Teams will primarily play within their division (U20 & U23, although crossovers with other divisions will occur to maintain fresh competition throughout the summer).
Standings: All game scores will be reported. Standings will be based upon games within the Division. Overall record, as well as Goals Scored and Goals Allowed will also be reported on this website. Top teams play off at the end of the summer.
Awards: MSSL CUP 2009 will be awarded to the winner of a playoff held in late July. MSSL Cups will be competed in U23 Men, U20 Men and U23 Women.
Rosters: Up to 30 players per team; 18 can be listed for any one game.
Ages: For 2008, qualifying U23 players must be born on or after August 1, 1985, same as the cutoff date for U23 National Cup competition.
Carding: MSSL is a fully-registered regional league with USASA, the national governing body for mens amateur soccer. While there are administrative costs in being properly registered and sanctioned, teams and players will also be able to participate in other leagues, tournaments and amateur national championships year-round, in addition to their participation in MSSL.
Scheduling Conflicts: All scheduling agreements must be emailed by BOTH teams to bohdan@mssl.org. All disputes, conflicts, etc. must be emailed to the same address where they will be quickly resolved. MSSL Games Commissioner has final word on all disputed items, and both teams must abide by decision.
Cost: $575 for MSSL Fees which includes cost of league registration with USASA; $125 team registration fees with USASA; and a $200 refundable bond to ensure game compliance. USASA player passes are $16 per player, separately payable by credit card at a USASA online registration site. In addition, teams split cost of referees and assignor for each game, as well as modest facility costs at site games, while home team is responsible for field at single games.

National & Regional Cups: MSSL teams can declare for USASA U23 Regional Cup competition through MSSL. Teams must declare and submit payment of $200 by no later than May 31, 2009. The U23 Regional Champion proceeds to the National Final Four in late July. There is also a U20 USASA National cup competition (conveniently being held in Manalapan NJ) on July 17-18. |
